Oxygen concentrators are medical devices designed to deliver a concentrated flow of oxygen to individuals with respiratory conditions or those experiencing low blood oxygen levels. These devices are particularly beneficial for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumonia, or other respiratory disorders where supplemental oxygen is necessary.

The primary function of an oxygen concentrator is to extract and concentrate oxygen from the surrounding air. Unlike traditional oxygen cylinders, which contain compressed or liquid oxygen, concentrators draw in room air, remove nitrogen and other gases, and deliver a stream of purified oxygen to the user. Most oxygen concentrators consist of a compressor, sieve bed filters, and a delivery system. The compressor pressurizes air and delivers it to the sieve bed filters, which remove nitrogen, leaving behind concentrated oxygen. The purified oxygen is then delivered to the user through a nasal cannula or mask.
